I was born in Detroit, Michigan.  I do not come from a long line of Christians or Christian pastors; my family began to attend church when I was about 11.  My pastor recruited me for the pastoral ministry on the day of my confirmation.  I am married (Bonnie) with one college age daughter (Leah).

Since graduating I have been privileged to serve as a mission pastor in Austin, Texas and White Rock, New Mexico. In August 1991, we moved to Glendale when the Lord moved me to accept the call to Grace.

We have seen God do great things since we have been here.  That includes the spiritual growth of the congregation and the building/renewing of our facilities.  It is my greatest joy to center all that we do – from our worship to our personal interactions – around the good news that Jesus has paid for our failures and accepts me as his own dear child through what he has done; in other words, around God’s grace.

I enjoy playing golf and softball.  Although I root for all of our Arizona professional teams, I still am a rabid Detroit Red Wings fan!

I start every day and go to bed each evening believing Jesus has won my salvation for me.  My greatest wish is to pass that faith on to others.  Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.  I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished (Romans 15:17-18).

Hernandez Daylo “Jr.” grew up in Tomah, WI.  He was oldest of three children, and his parents chose to train them with St. Paul Lutheran grade school, Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Hernandez was confirmed and graduated in 1988.

His parents supported his Christian education at Luther High School in Onalaska, WI.  He received the honor of co-salutatorian of the 1993 graduating class of Luther High School.  That fall he began his course of studies for the pastoral ministry at Northwestern College in Watertown, WI, which later became Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.  In 1998 Hernandez received a Bachelor of Arts degree from MLC.

He attended Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary for four years, including a vicar (intern) year in Mexico City, Mexico.  In May of 2002, he graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree and received his first call to serve at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendale, AZ.  He was ordained and installed on July 28, 2002.

Pastor Daylo is married to Nancy, and they have two children.  They live in Glendale, also. The Lord has continued to bless Pastor and Nancy through the kindness and generosity of Grace’s members.  It has been a privilege for him to learn and serve here in Glendale.  He looks forward to getting to know members and guests of Grace, and sharing the truth of God’s Word with them.
