I was born and raised in Two Rivers, WI. Being the daughter, grand-daughter, and niece of WELS teachers gave me ample opportunity to see the blessings of such a calling. My first hands on experiences came when I taught Sunday School at St. John’s Lutheran. This experience of teaching God’s Word to precious children led me to choose a teaching career. I graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College with my Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1984. I taught first and second grades in Racine, WI my first four years after college. I was called to Grace in 1985 and started here teaching second and third grade. I then taught second alone for the next eighteen years. I currently am teaching fourth grade and enjoying exploring the area of Social Studies. We are also able to study the history of Arizona together. That in itself has been an education for me.
I do so enjoy the laughter and enthusiasm for learning that comes with each new group of children. As they share their life experiences with each other and with me we all grow as the year progresses. I also enjoy coaching volleyball with the seventh through eighth grader ladies in the fall. In the spring I direct the play performed by grades 6-8. These activities create memories for a lifetime.
Watching the children grow in their faith and academics throughout their years at Grace is rewarding. Working together with a talented group of fellow teachers is a blessing. My favorite part about teaching is that each new day is unique with its own set of challenges and blessings. What better way to serve God each day. |
